Nong Khiaw, Laos Plan a trip

Located on the Nam Ou River, Nong Khiaw is an explorer’s paradise offering incredible scenery and endless activities to keep you occupied for a couple of days. Nong Khiaw is considered one of the most picturesque spots in the whole of Laos due to the outstanding natural beauty of its surroundings.

You can go trekking, cycling, Kayaking or even rock climbing through the exquisite limestone formations. Or if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, there’s Pha Kuang Cave. You’ll have to climb your way through 300 metres of rock before reaching the cave itself. This may seem a little daunting, but once you get inside, all of your hard work will pay off!

Patok Cave is also well worth visiting. The complex provided protection for the local farmers and governors while the area was being heavily bombed by the US Air Force during the Vietnam war.

For those who want to take things a little easier, you can take a slow walk into the town itself and admire the historic temple in the centre, or treat yourself to an indulgent massage or herbal steam bath at Sabai Sabai.
