Introduction

Set in a flourishing garden of tropical fruit trees and bright flowers, Battambang Resort is a luxurious place to enjoy the balmy weather of north-western Cambodia in peace. The resort is a little out of town in Wat Kor village, but that’s how we like it: when you surface from the pool to see the surrounding greenery, you truly feel like you’re in a rainforest.

People in the villages around this riverside city still live traditionally, and you can get a feel for the culture of rural Cambodia even on a short excursion out into the country. What’s more, the area has plenty of Buddhist temples and Khmer ruins, allowing you to delve into the area’s rich history.

Battambang itself is also home to the famous Phare Phonleu Selpak circus, which provides social and educational support to local youth and their families. Book a ticket for an impressive display of acrobatic tricks that seem to defy gravity!

There are three kinds of room – some offer garden views while others look out over the resort’s own lake. Family options are available, too.

Facilities

Fresh mint, basil, and lemongrass from the resort’s large garden are expertly blended into delicious dishes at the resort’s own restaurant. It even grows its own rice. Enjoy your food in the restaurant or by the pool, whichever takes your fancy.

Although Battambang Resort isn’t in central Battambang, it provides free shuttle services to and from town. Alternatively, if you feel like getting active, hire a bike for the day. The friendly staff are happy to arrange both local tours and onward travel.
