Desert Quiver Camp, Sossusvlei

Mid-range - ££

Introduction

The Desert Quiver Camp sits right at the entrance to Sossusvlei and the Namib Desert. This dramatic and imposing landscape makes for a fantastic backdrop for your holiday that can’t be matched elsewhere.

Go out on a nature drive as the sun goes down, or explore Deadvlei; the black trees contrast perfectly with the white sand. It’s a sight you’ll never forget.

You should also try the guided Elim Dune Nature Walk – it’s a fantastic way to see the bright orange dunes glistening in the sun.

The camp has 24 uniquely designed self-catering accommodation units. They all have en-suite bathrooms and a private patio where you can enjoy incredible views of the desert.

Each patio also has a barbecue, so you can spend an evening cooking outside underneath the stars.

Facilities

The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, so if you don’t feel like cooking for yourself then head to the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge for a good meal out.

Go to the camp’s main building to meet other travellers and relax. There’s a big-screen television, an outdoor swimming pool and a dining space for large groups.

Ask the team at the camp to help you plan some activities. There are a few aerial options so take a helicopter ride, go on a scenic flight or try hot-air ballooning. The views are incredible!

You should also try to visit Sesriem Canyon – this natural phenomenon was forged thousands of years ago and you can walk right through it. It’s a great experience!
