Introduction
The Fish River Lodge sits at an incredible position; right on the edge of Fish River Canyon – the second largest canyon in the world!
The views from your private veranda are plenty to write home about, but head out a little further from the lodge and you’ll see things you’ll never forget.
The canyon itself is over 500,000 million years old, and is dwarfed only by the Grand Canyon in America.
Facilities
The entire lodge is made from natural materials, including stone and wood, to reflect the natural phenomenon upon which it sits. This gives the place a really earthy vibe and somehow makes it seem very peaceful.
There are 20 private chalets that you can stay in at the Fish River Lodge, all of which look out over the canyon. Each chalet has an outdoor deck so you can really make the most of this impressive view.
They also have their own bathrooms including an outdoor shower to bring you closer to nature. You can sleep outside if you want, but most tend to use this outdoor platform for yoga instead.
After a day of exploring, come back and take a dip in the rim pool or have a bite to eat on the wooden deck that surrounds it. The food here is delicious – try as many local dishes as you can during your stay.
