Nkwazi Lodge, Rundu
Mid-range - ££
Introduction
The Nkwazi Lodge sits in a fantastic spot overlooking the Okavango River, not too far from Rundu.
This part of Namibia has barely been disturbed by human hands, so it’s a great place to get close to nature. There are a few wildlife conservation parks nearby, so try to visit them if you can. You might spot the Fish Eagle and Swomp Bobos, zebra, giraffes, elephants and more.
Keep an eye out for one of the largest Boabab trees in existence; it’s an incredible sight and is well worth a picture or two.
The Nkwazi Lodge supports the local community by funding development and educational programs. You can help with these programmes during your stay, and leave a lasting positive impact on the area.
This lodge is made up of several bungalows, all of which are designed to be environmentally-friendly. They feature traditional thatched roofs, an en-suite (hot) shower and complimentary towels.
If you’d rather have a more adventurous stay, there’s a campsite attached to the lodge where you can pitch a tent or bring your campervan.
Facilities
Take a dip in the cool pool during the summer months; it’s incredibly refreshing.
The lodge also has its own on-site bar and restaurant which are open until 10pm. Although guests at the lodge can enjoy breakfast and dinner here lunch isn’t available, however lunch packs can be supplied if arranged in advance with the staff.
There are a few different types of entertainment on offer for guests; you can choose to go on a community tour, a sundowner cruise, or even watch a tribal dance show.
