Introduction
Located in an isolated section of the Amakhala Game Reserve, the Amakhala Hillsnek will make you feel at home on your travels. This family-run lodge is extremely small-scale, so you’ll feel as though you’re truly on your own with the surrounding wildlife.
Facilities
The camp consists of just four tents and a main lodge, which are all surrounded by striking views of the African bush – you may even be lucky enough to spot some of the ‘big five’ passing by. All of the tents are linked up to the main lodge and feature an en-suite bathroom with a deep bath. You can also enjoy a unique outdoor shower – don’t worry, no-one will be peeking!
Upon making your way to the main lodge, you’ll find an open-plan lounge, bar area and dining facilities where you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. The front of the lodge is left fully open, so you enjoy the stunning views of the African bush while you eat your meal.
There is also a solar-heated swimming pool to enjoy, which is the perfect place to cool down after a long day of adventures.
As this camp is located within the reserve itself, it is naturally popular with travellers pursuing a once-in-a-lifetime safari experience. Set within 18,000 hectares of land, you’ll get the chance to see some of Africa’s famous wildlife up close in their own habitat; this includes the zebra, lion, monkey, rhino, buffalo and cheetah, to name just a few.
