Woodbury Tented Lodge, Amakhala Game Reserve
Mid-range - £££
Introduction
The Amakhala Woodbury Tented Lodge is nestled in the hillside and offers some truly breath-taking views of the floodplain of the Bushman’s River. It’s run by the descendants of English settlers who first owned the place over 150 years ago.
Facilities
This lodge is made up of 10 simple but well-equipped tents. There is an en-suite shower and basin within the tent, and it’s just a short walk to the toilet facilities. Each tent features two twins or a king-sized bed at your request, and you can ask for an electric blanket or hot water to keep you toasty on those chillier nights. If you wish to sit out and watch the world go by, you should definitely make use of the private deck nestled beneath the trees to give you that sense of peace and tranquillity.
There is a central dining area to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a spacious decking area that looks out to the plains.
As the camp is set in the heart of the Amakhala Game Reserve, it makes for the perfect opportunity to get close to wildlife such as zebras, lions, elephants and buffalo. Game drives leave throughout the day, or you may prefer to enjoy a river cruise along Bushman’s River or participate in a guided walk with a ranger.
Why We Love It
We love this lodge as it’s perfect for those who are hoping to enjoy an authentic and simple safari experience.
