Mu Cang Chai Eco Lodge, Mu Cang Chai
Mid-range - £
Introduction
The Mu Cang Chai Eco Lodge in Mu Cang Chai is a new kid on the block, having only been built in 2017, but it’s already establishing quite a reputation.
The owners have managed to build a comfortable and appealing lodge right in the heart of the mountains without destroying the natural environment, or intruding on the local culture.
The eco lodge is made up of four separate houses that stand on stilts and are named after local produce (rice, pine, corn, tea etc).
Everything in the lodge was made with local materials, similar to the ones used by Thai and H’mong ethnic groups – it really gives you a sense of being close to nature.
The lodge looks out over the Yen Bai Region and has 700 hectares of terraced rice fields for you to explore. You’ll see the amazing way the H’mong tribes gather to keep the rice fields growing all year round.
Facilities
The lodge also has a community house where everyone can come together. It’s also where the restaurant’s located, so you can try a variety of delicious dishes here.
The hotel will help arrange exciting and memorable experiences for you. Pick from motorbiking through the mountains, farming, fixing local houses, fishing and more. The lodge itself puts on cooking lessons, so try to take part in these!
All of these activities were designed to help visitors connect with local people and really appreciate the wonderful surroundings.
