Most likely originating from the Dutch phrase which means ‘large flat land’, Flic en Flac is a small-scale seaside town located in the district of Rivière Noire in Mauritius. Noted for its white sandy beach which stretches as far as the eye can see, this area is perfect if you’re hoping to get away from it all. The town was a tiny fishing village around 200 years ago, but it has since developed into a relaxed holiday resort which is a firm favourite with the Mauritian people.

Medine Sugar Estate is also just a short drive away. During the sugar-cutting season, there are guided tours around the distillery where you can find out more about the process.
