Krabi, Thailand Plan a trip
Krabi town is a busy and imposing hub, but still quite compact. However, there are over 150 islands in Krabi that offer a fantastic beach experience. They jump out of the water, topped with green jungles, ready to be explored.
The islands in Krabi are exactly what you’d imagine a Thai island to be. With pure white sands and rich green jungles, you’ll think you’ve stepped into a postcard. In fact, you might recognise the looming cliffs of Krabi from a famous film: James Bond soared through the bays here as part of The Man with the Golden Gun. It’s a truly iconic backdrop for a high-speed chase!
It only takes 45 minutes to get to Ao Nang and Railay from the main town. This area is where most of the main resorts are. From here you can go on a boat trip to the Phi Phi National Marine Park and snorkel among the marine life. There are also a few spots for experienced divers. For a bit of culture, visit the Tiger Cave Temple at Wat Tham Suea. The Neolithic images of tigers, crocodiles and lobsters have stood the test of time, so are worth seeing, and hint at how old the community here is.
Krabi Town is worth a visit if you’re just looking for a bit of local life; but bear in mind it’s busy as people travel through it to get elsewhere. Those who’ve been to the Andaman Islands before might want to stay a while and explore the local area. Follow the paved route down to the fishing port, around Ko Klang and to the edge of Thara Park to start your adventure.
