This hilly city by the bay is surprisingly walkable (and bikeable) in parts. But if you’d like some respite from some of the steepest hills, it’s easy to hop on a cable car, underground metro or one of the city’s historic streetcars.
And if you can drag yourself away from the city centre, you’ll find San Francisco to be a fantastic jumping-off point for outdoor adventures.
