Vancouver, Canada Plan a trip
Explore one of the world’s most liveable cities, the west coast seaport of Vancouver.
This British Colombian gem has it all, from towering mountains and sparkling ocean to a varied and vibrant food scene and brilliant museums. It has fabulous public parks and green spaces, cool neighbourhoods and a choice of bustling markets.
Vancouver is also known as the gateway to outdoor adventures at Whistler, the Canadian Rockies, Victoria and Vancouver Island.
There are even beaches here, one of the most popular being the watersports paradise known as Kitsilano Beach – although Second Beach is a quieter spot if you’re in search of peace and relaxation.
Vancouver is also home to a thriving art, theatre and music scene. If you only have a few days for your trip, you simply must check out Vancouver Art Gallery for innovative work by local and international artists. Another must-see are the fascinating First Nations collections in the Museum of Anthropology.
If you want to see and do it all in Vancouver though, you’ll have a jam-packed itinerary. Highlights include the family-friendly Vancouver Aquarium, the grand Canada Place landmark right on the waterfront, and the vibrant Chinatown.
You can zip up to the summit of Grouse Mountain for spectacular views on the Skyride aerial tramway, or go on a craft beer tasting tour at an independent brewhouse on Granville Island.
And if you visit Vancouver in summer, you’ll be treated to free summer festivals. One of the biggest and best (and loudest) is the three-day Celebration of Light, which is the mother of all offshore fireworks competitions.
