Vang Vieng, Laos Plan a trip

Vang Vieng is very much set up for the active traveller, as there’s plenty to see and do in the area. As well as the lively village itself, there are many activities to keep you fully entertained throughout your stay; ideal if you’re an adrenaline seeker on the lookout for your next challenge.

Rock climbing has become a hugely popular activity in this area. You can do it all year round and, best of all, you’ll be climbing amidst some of the most spectacular scenery in the world! There are also opportunities to experience hot air balloon rides from October until around mid-May due to it being the drier season – these rides last approximately 45 minutes. You might also want to try kayaking along the river, or, for those feeling brave, go for a swim through the caves!

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the main town, one of the best ways to visit further afield areas is to hire a mountain bike from your hotel. If you do so, it will only take a few minutes to find yourself in complete peace and quiet, with spectacular views of farmland, waterfalls and lagoons all around. You’ll also get a more authentic glimpse of everyday local life once you get outside the town.

Vang Vieng has a few restaurants and cafes where you can grab a cold drink and get out of the sun for a while. In fact, you’ll be in your element if you’re a fan of US sitcoms (yes, really) as most places here air them throughout the day! (We still aren’t sure why)
