Whistler, Canada Plan a trip
In search of outdoor adventure in stunning surroundings? Pack your skis and head to the winter wonderland of Whistler, in the Coast Mountains of British Colombia.
Whistler is only a two-hour drive from Vancouver, but it feels like a whole other world. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, offering endlessly impressive views of awe-inspiring mountains, turquoise lakes, giant trees, huge waterfalls and expansive parks. You won’t be able to believe your eyes, or put your camera away.
This corner of Canada is world-famous as a ski and snow sports resort, and for very good reason. If there’s an outdoor activity you want to try, Whistler is the place to do it. Seriously, the list is endless – from skiing, sledding, snowboarding and snowshoeing, through to rock climbing, hiking, tubing, bungee jumping and ziplining. It’s an adrenaline junkie’s dream.
Most of the action takes place within Whistler’s Blackcomb ski resort, one of the largest of its kind in North America. Here, you can hop the Peak 2 Peak Gondola to move between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, and test your mettle on both slopes.
If you need a breather or you’re not mega keen on winter sports, spend some time exploring Whistler Village. This pretty pedestrianised village with its twinkling lights is a buzzing social community and the culture, food and entertainment hub for the area. It’s home to shops, restaurants, museums and galleries, and is known for its live music and vibrant party scene after dark.
It’s the perfect spot to meet friends for an après ski tipple, do some people watching and sample some fantastic food.
