Classic French Polynesia: Moorea, Bora Bora & Tahiti

This French Polynesia holiday combines Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora, bringing together volcanic peaks, turquoise lagoons, quiet beaches and some of the South Pacific’s most iconic island scenery.

Begin in Moorea, where lush mountains rise above calm water and days can be spent exploring viewpoints, bays and lagoon life. Continue to Bora Bora for a more indulgent chapter, with coral gardens, white sand motus and uninterrupted views of Mount Otemanu. Return to Tahiti for a final taste of Polynesian culture, markets, waterfalls and island life before flying home.

The itinerary below is shown as an example route. Every journey we create is planned from scratch, and can be adapted — unless you like it exactly as it is.

  • Day 1 - Overnight Flight

Begin your journey from the UK, travelling west towards the South Pacific. After connecting en route, continue across the ocean to Tahiti, gateway to French Polynesia’s islands, lagoons and warm Polynesian welcome.

  • Day 2 - Moorea

Arrive in Tahiti and take the short ferry or flight to Moorea. Settle into your hotel, slow the pace, and enjoy your first views of volcanic peaks rising above the lagoon.

  • Day 3 - Moorea

Spend the day easing into island life. Swim from the beach, wander to a nearby café, try fresh poisson cru for lunch or simply relax with views across Moorea’s calm lagoon.

  • Day 4 - Moorea

Head out by boat across Moorea’s lagoon, looking for rays, reef sharks and colourful fish in the shallows. Stop beside a quiet motu for snorkelling, swimming and a relaxed island-style lunch.

  • Day 5 - Moorea

Explore Moorea’s lush interior, from pineapple fields and forested slopes to Belvedere Lookout, with sweeping views over Cook’s and Opunohu Bays. Afterwards, return to the coast for a slower afternoon.

  • Day 6 - Bora Bora

Travel onwards to Bora Bora, where the lagoon shifts through shades of turquoise and Mount Otemanu rises above the island. Arrive by boat and settle into your resort for five indulgent nights.

  • Day 7 - Bora Bora

Spend today enjoying Bora Bora at its slowest and most luxurious. Swim from your villa, book a Polynesian spa treatment, paddleboard across the shallows or simply do very little beside the lagoon.

  • Day 8 - Bora Bora

Explore Bora Bora’s lagoon by boat, with time to snorkel coral gardens, watch rays glide beneath you and admire uninterrupted views of Mount Otemanu from the water before returning to your resort.

  • Day 9 - Bora Bora

Today is deliberately unplanned. Sleep late, enjoy breakfast overlooking the water, swim between chapters of a book and let the colours of the lagoon change around you through the day.

  • Day 10 - Bora Bora

Sleep late, enjoy breakfast overlooking the water, swim between chapters of a book and let the colours of the lagoon change around you through the day.

  • Day 11 - Tahiti

Fly back to Tahiti for your final island stay. Spend the afternoon exploring Papeete Market, visiting a black pearl boutique or enjoying dinner at the lively roulottes food trucks.

  • Day 12 - Tahiti

Discover Tahiti beyond Papeete, perhaps visiting the island’s waterfalls, black sand beaches or coastal viewpoints. Or head to a local market for some street food. Return for a relaxed final evening before your journey home begins the following day.

  • Day 13 - Overnight Flight

Begin your journey back to the UK, leaving French Polynesia after a route shaped around Moorea’s mountains, Bora Bora’s lagoon and Tahiti’s final glimpse of everyday island life.
