Trekking Colca Canyon Plan a trip
Day 1 – Leaving the city via Yura, you will enter Pampa Cañahuas Reserve, an extensive plain where you can see vicuñas, the indigenous Andean camelid that is a national symbol. Then go to Vizcachani, Pampas de Toccra, up to the crater of the Chucura volcano and on to Los Andes Viewpoint at Patapampa (4800 m.a.s.l.), where the volcanoes surrounding Arequipa can be seen.
In the afternoon you can rest in the hotel or visit the thermal springs at La Calera.
Day 2 – After having a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will visit the Condor’s Cross to see the Colca Valley (the second deepest canyon in the world, with more than 4 km at its deepest part) followed by an astonishing sight: the great and majestic condor flying only a few meters away.
On the way back to Chivay you will pass through the villages of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, Yanque and the view points at Antahuilque and Choquetico. Then continue the route to Puno where you’ll spend the night.
