Bird Island Lodge is truly a sight to behold. It sits on a private island edged with pure white beaches where you can rest and relax while the turquoise Indian Ocean laps against its shores.
Nature has taken over this island, and only permits a few visitors to stay. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you’ll get to indulge in this wild paradise and watch the world go by.
Discover the giant land tortoises that plod around, watch the marine life that darts through the corals and see more species of birds than you’ll have ever seen before.
The lodge will encourage you to really get involved with the natural environment; protect sea turtle nests, go on nature walks and explore as much of the island as you can.
A maximum of 50 guests can stay in this resort at any one time, so it’s never too busy.
Every cottage has a patio that looks out over the gardens towards the sea, which is only a few moments away.
It also means that it’ll be easier for you to detach from the real world and embrace the simple life. It’s such a great feeling, you may never want to leave!
Breakfasts, traditional Creole lunches and European-style dinners in a casual, buffet-style environment, in the main lodge.
The lodge also offers a relaxed bar and lounge open in the evenings, perfect for grabbing a coffee or a pre-dinner drink.
The lodges’s staff can help you organise a wide range of activities, from fishing to kayaking.
The resort’s cottages are dotted around the island. They don’t have air conditioning, fridges, telephones or televisions so you don’t use a lot of power – it’s an eco-friendly resort. They do however have Wifi.
