The day has arrived! Your trip begins with an overnight flight to Tokyo

Day 2 - Tokyo
Welcome to the Land of the Rising Sun!
Your guide will be waiting on arrival to escort you to your hotel by public transit. Your rail passes are included for the entirety of your journey, so no need to faff around pre-departure.

Day 3 - Tokyo
Your first delve into Japan's iconic history today as you head to the Shinjuku Samurai museum with your expert local guide.
Then it's time to get hands on as you learn the art of the samurai sword with one of Tokyo's most famous choreographers.

Day 4 - Tokyo
Today is at leisure to explore the city at your own pace before heading out tonight to watch a Japanese staple: sumo wrestling.

Day 5 - Tsumago
Leave Tokyo behind as you head north into the mountains by rail (remember your pass is included) to the living museum that is Tsumago town.
You'll be staying in a traditional Ryokan for the next 2 nights.

Day 6 - Tsumago
Tsumago is the best preserved ancient town along the Edo era's famous Nakasendo trail.
Today you'll take a leisurely 2 hour stroll along this famous pass en route to Magome, another beautiful Edo era village before heading back to your traditional inn for a classic Japanese dinner.

Day 7 - Kyoto
Next it's the iconic and ancient city of Kyoto. Your evening is at leisure in Japan's cultural capital.

Day 8 - Kyoto
Take to the streets of Kyoto on two wheels. Cycle through historic districts and scenic, atmospheric, alleys.
Witness scenes of daily life in the city as you discover hidden gems away from the usual tourist trail, whilst still taking in the city's UNESCO-heritage sites with your local guide.

Day 9 - Kyoto
It's all about engaging your foodie side today as you take the streets to sample traditional Japanese dishes.
Afterwards you'll try your hand at preparing your own at a local cooking school.

Day 10 - Hiroshima
Onto the infamous city of Hiroshima. Once a by-word for human tragedy, Hiroshima has risen from the ashes to become a vibrant modern city.

Day 11 - Hiroshima
Today you'll discover Hiroshima, a city reimagined and rebuilt following the near-total damage caused by the atomic bomb in 1945.
Stop by the A-Bomb Dome, the Peace Memorial Park, the A-Bomb survivors’ hospital, Miyuki Bridge, and the Hiroshima Army Clothing Depot.

Day 12 - Hiroshima
Something a little different today as you take to the waters for a kayaking adventure on Hiroshima's inland sea.
Paddle across calm waters stopping to admire the impressive famous floating gate of the Itsukushima Shrine. Escape the tourist crowds to discover quiet beaches before heading back to the city.

Day 13 - Fukuoka
Last up it's the modern city of Fukoaka on Japan's southern Kyushu island.
You'll round off your incredible fortnight with a street food tour celebrating Japanese delicacies. A fitting end to an incredible experience in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Alas, it's time to head home. You'll be transferred to Fukuoka airport for your onward journey
